1. For two weeks in January, we were home to an exhibit called "Revolutionary Lives" from the NJ Dept of Education. This is partly due to the status of NBTHS as a "Revolutionary School" in the RevNJ program celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary. Special thanks to Mr. Smutko, Mr. Ojeda, Ms. DePasquale, and Mr. Totten. who make up our Semiquincentennial Committee and created curricular material to use with the exhibit for all of our sophomore students. 2. Last Friday, over 250 of our junior students participated in the "RU Ready Civics Fair" in the MRC. This was done in conjunction with students and staff from the Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University. Our students did a wonderful job as they learned lessons about being an informed and active citizen.
The NBTHS Speech & Debate Club attended NJ's largest high school debate tournament of the year at Ridge High School, where they competed against almost 1,000 other debaters from four states. Eight NBTHS debaters have now qualified for the district tournaments that will begin at the end of February. They will compete for the chance to represent NJ at the national tournament. NBTHS students in CP Spanish 1 had a fun day simulating an in-class restaurant! Students practiced food and restaurant vocabulary and grammar using props and student-made "platos del día" in an interactive and communicative way! #truenorthbrunswick
Congratulations to NBTHS juniors Michael DeNicuolo and Erica Tuckman for their outstanding performances in the CJMEA All-Region Orchestras! They played incredibly challenging repertoire alongside the best high school musicians in Central Jersey.
