Schwann Grimes, the NBTHS Head Track Coach, has seen much success over the past years; and last year Coach had an idea to bring those success stories to the forefront by creating a program for alumni visits.
Nnenna Ibe (pictured above) was the first speaker in the 2nd year of track’s NCAA Alumni visits, the focus of which is how to navigate an NCAA career while preparing for and executing the plan for life after athletics. Throughout the rest of the year, current track athletes will be provided an opportunity to hear from those who have been able to balance the challenges of school and sports and who have utilized athletics to better themselves.
Hopefully, present day students will walk away with a better understanding of what it takes to be productive in the classroom and beyond- and maybe some of them will be back in the future to share their success stories with NBTHS track team members.
