Classroom Procedures & Expectations

1. Arrive to class on time

 Tardiness is unacceptable and will be handle according to school policy. Any student who has a legitimate excuse for being late should have a handwritten valid pass.

2. Come to class prepared

  • Preparation for class is extremely important and each student must come prepared to every class. Failure to come prepared to class will affect your grade. Make sure you bring your textbook, workbook, binder, and a pen to class every day.


3. Show respect

  • Respect the teacher, your classmates, and yourself. This includes but is not limited to bullying, name calling, or making fun of anyone’s attempt to speak Spanish.

4. Participate

  •  Be an active participant in all classroom activities. HABLA ESPAÑOL EN LA CLASE!!!!

5. Exercise appropriate classroom behavior

  • Use appropriate language at all times. Profanity will not be tolerated!
  • Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking. Do NOT call out. Raise your hand and wait your turn.
  •  No talking while the teacher is talking or while others present oral work or responses.
  •  Keep your body language and facial expressions positive.
  •  Remain in your seat. You may not get up and walk unless given permission.
  •  No food, drinks, gum, or electronic devices are allowed.

Passes: only one student may leave the classroom at a time. Every student must sign out in the bathroom logbook. 

Homework: homework will not be assigned every night but it will be assigned often. Homework is due next class unless otherwise stated. Late homework will not be accepted.

Projects: students will be given ample time to complete projects. Projects are due at the beginning of the class the date specified unless otherwise stated. Late projects will be accepted but there will be a 10 point deduction for each day the project is late.

Absences: if a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to come to the teacher as soon possible to ask for missed work and to check the district homework website for homework. The teacher is NOT responsible for approaching you for the work that you missed. An absence NOT an excuse to miss a previously schedule test/quiz. You will have to make arrangements with the teacher to take the test or quiz.

Materials to class:

  • Three ring binder with dividers to keep all handouts, notes and homework assignments.
  •  Notebook or lined paper.
  • A pen and highlighter, homework, tests and quizzes must be completed in pencil or blue /black ink.
  • Quizzes and test must be completed in blue/black ink.
