Honors English II
English Honors II expands upon the skills introduced during the preceding school year in English Honors I. Students will engage in various modes of writing with emphasis on analytical essays and critical analyses. The format of this course will be a survey of the major works in American literature in chronological order. Selections in fiction and non-fiction are the principal components from which assignments evolve such as essay writing, vocabulary development, creative writing, and reading and discussion of various works by American authors. Basic skills are reinforced with emphasis on test questions from the SAT and PARCC. The students engage in outside research and read supplementary novels and plays. The completion of a research paper is a requirement of this course. A summer assignment, as determined by the English Department must be completed prior to entering this course.
