SPANISH CULTURE AND CONVERSATION CLASS

 

Course Description

This replacement course fulfills the one year World Language requirement for Learning Center students. Students will explore cultural elements of Spanish speaking countries, including art, music, food, and customs.  Students will also learn rudimentary grammar and vocabulary in the areas of days of the week, months, seasons; likes dislikes; describing people; food; and locations.

 

Proficiencies

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

 

  • Have a better understanding of various cultural elements dealing with people, places, and events in the Spanish-speaking world.
  • Communicate orally in simple phrases in Spanish.
  • Express themselves in simple written Spanish phrases.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the vocabulary.

 

CP SPANISH II CLASSES

 Course Description

Course Description- CP Spanish II continues the work begun in CP Spanish I. Students will build upon level I basic skills in speaking, reading, and, writing. Students will also explore vocabulary and grammatical structures appropriate to a second year language course.


Proficiencies

 Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Communicate/interact in a variety of task-oriented social situations in Spanish.
  • Sustain intermediate level conversations in Spanish on a variety of topics.
  • Express themselves in wirtten Spanish.
  • Demonstrate comprehension and mastery of grammatical structures, vocabulary, and, idiomatic structure.
  • Demonstrate mastery and comprehension and mastery of selected cultural topics in the Spanish-speaking world.
