Proficiencies CP III


Course Description

CP Spanish III is designed to further develop within students an ability to communicate in Spanish within the context of the vocabulary and language structures appropriate to an intermediate language course.  Students will read abridged work of classical and contemporary Spanish literature. 

Course Proficiencies 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 

  • Understand Spanish at standard pace and pronunciation as spoken by the teacher and native speakers.
  • Converse in the target language with appropriate pronunciation, intonation, and inflection.
  • Acquire basic vocabulary, idiomatic expressions and grammatical structures and forms that are being studied in class.
  • Respond to questions based on reading, grammar, and culture in homework assignments, in-class exercises, quizzes, and tests.
  • Comprehend the content of selected reading passages, dialogues, and abridged works of Spanish literature.
  • Organize and write guided and creative paragraphs, dialogues, and compositions in Spanish.
  • Comprehend and discuss select cultural topics dealing with Spanish speaking countries.


Course Requirements 

Students will be expected to: 

  • Attend class regularly and be on time. 
  • Bring necessary supplies to class.
  • Complete all in class and homework assignments.
  • Make up all work after any absence with a deadline established by school policy.
  • Maintain a high degree of class participation and preparation.
  • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and to contribute to the learning process of the class. 


Marking period grades will be assigned quarterly and will be determined by the following: 

  1. Class Participation                                                                      15%
  2. Homework (3/week graded for completion and accuracy)                20%
  3. Tests (2 CA/MP)                                                                         30%
  4. Quizzes (weekly) / Projects (one/MP)                                           25%
  5. Oral Proficiency                                                                          10%
