Classroom Expectations

Rules & Procedures

  • Come to class with a pen/pencil, your French book, a binder, and a folder.
  • Sit quietly in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
  • Take out your homework and begin the “Do Now” in the beginning of class.
  • Be attentive and respectful in class.
  • Participate! Speak as much French as possible.
  • Raise your hand if you have a question.
  • Be patient and help each other.

*If you finish all of your work early for the day, you may get a supplemental culture reading from the “J’ai Fini!” folder. Completing this will give you between 1-3 bonus points for the day. You may also work on any missing assignments*

 Electronics: You will have the opportunity to use the school computers and the school IPads in order to enhance your learning throughout the year. Subsequently, electronic devices such as cellphones, mp3 players, and cameras should not be used in class. 

Tardiness:

If you come late to class:

  • Please enter the classroom quietly.
  • If you do not have a pass, sign the late clipboard near the door and take your seat.
  • If you have a signed pass, please place it on my desk and take your seat.
  • Understand that being late to class 4 times will result in an automatic referral to your dean.
  • If you arrive to class over 10 minutes late without a pass, this is considered as a cut. 
  • Excessive trips to the bathroom or the nurse will be viewed as a medical issue. Your parent will be notified.

Classroom Infractions: If you choose not to follow the classroom rules, your parent/guardian will be informed of your behavior and you may receive a/an:

  • Teacher Detention
  • Afterschool Administrative Detention
  • Saturday Detention
  • In-School Suspension
  • Out of School-Suspension

The type of disciplinary action that you receive will depend on the type of disciplinary infraction that you have committed. Please see page 32 in your student handbook for more specific details. *Remember that detention takes precedence over athletics, extracurricular activities, and work responsibilities.*

Plagiarism Policy: Plagiarism is the use of any source without prior acknowledgement. All violations are documented on your student record. Additionally, your parent, dean, and guidance counselor will be contacted if this occurs. Please see me for extra help or ask for additional time if you are having difficulty with a certain assignment. Remember that the use of online translators is also considered as plagiarism. Please only use the dictionaries that are listed on this website.

Makeup Procedure: It is your responsibility to make up any missed work per accordance with the school policies. If you are absent, please check the absent bin in your classroom as well as google classroom. Any missed work due to an unexcused late will result in a zero. Late homework and classwork will receive half-credit unless you have an extenuating circumstance.
