AVID students must be dedicated to improvement in all their classes.  Progress will be monitored by both the students and by the AVID teacher.  It is expected that the student maintain at least an overall GPA of a 2.0.  Students who fail to maintain a GPA (which reflects a strong work ethic and overall progress) will be placed on academic probation (excluding them from class privileges) and/or may be removed from the AVID program.

Attendance and Academic Integrity

Remember—being in AVID is a privilege, not a right.  We hold all AVID students to a very high standard and expect you to act as model students.  Be in class, with your appropriate materials, ready to work when the bell rings.

  • Arrive in class on time and prepared, both in attitude and material items, for the class assignment of the day.
  • Participate actively in class and follow the rules of the instructor.
  • Ask for clarification and seek assistance from the instructor when he/she is available.
  • Follow the rules of assignments and refrain from using any unpermitted aid (i.e. Spark Notes, Internet, plagiarism, etc.)
  • Be honest, moral, and respectful in your conduct with all teachers and other school personnel.

As an AVID teacher, it is my priority to assist each one of my AVID students to succeed.  I am committed to assisting students with issues regarding any aspect of school life.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  I have found that email is the best way to keep in touch regularly.
